In a one-to-one bass guitar lesson, you can expect to learn various aspects of playing the bass guitar, tailored to your skill level and musical goals. The lessons will cover fundamental techniques such as proper hand positioning, fretting, and plucking, as well as techniques specific to bass guitar, such as playing grooves, creating basslines, and understanding the role of the bass in different musical genres.
Additionally, your bass guitar lessons may include learning music theory and how it applies to the instrument, such as understanding scales, chords, and harmony. This knowledge will help you develop your improvisation skills and enable you to contribute creatively to a band or musical ensemble.
One of the unique opportunities at the Woking Music is our Weekly Monday Night Jam, where students have a safe and supportive environment to perform with a band for the first time. This jam session allows you to apply what you've learned in your lessons and gain valuable experience playing alongside other musicians. It's a fantastic way to build confidence, improve your ensemble skills, and develop your ability to groove and interact with fellow musicians.

Locking in with the drummer to create a tight and cohesive foundation for the music. Learning the importance of groove and maintaining a steady and consistent rhythm throughout a song.
Technical Proficiency
Solid technical skills, including proper finger placement, dexterity, and control over the instrument. Execute various techniques such as fingerstyle, slapping, and popping with precision and clarity.
Musicality & Melodic Awareness
How to create melodic and rhythmic basslines that complement the music and enhance the overall sound. Developing a keen ear for harmony and how to contribute to the musicality of a performance.
Versatility
Adapting and playing various musical styles with ease. Having a diverse repertoire and being able to adjust your playing style, tone, and technique to suit different genres and musical contexts.
Creativity
Bringing your own creative ideas and musical expression to performances. Improvising, adding tasteful fills and embellishments, and contributing to the overall musical experience.
Performance Skills
Stage presence, confidence, and the ability to connect with the audience. Leading to increased opportunities such as playing in a band, performing at events, and collaborating with other musicians.

Ana Vaipan
UK-based bassist Ana Vaipan has carved a reputation out as one of London’s most talented musicians. Since graduated from the Academy of Contemporary Music in 2016, Ana has spent her time playing professionally for touring artists locally and across the U.K.

Chloe Peacock
Chloe has spent over a decade playing professionally as a session player, in theatre, in bands (Unkle Bob and The Irrepressibles) and in recording sessions. 2023 has seen her supporting Simply Red with Gina Larner at the Coca Cola Arena in Dubai.
